Overview
Spasticity, muscle spasms and chronic discomfort are common in multiple sclerosis (MS) and spinal cord injuries. When first-line treatments are insufficient or poorly tolerated, medicinal cannabis can help reduce spasticity and improve quality of life. This is one of the conditions explicitly recognized under Portuguese law for medicinal cannabis prescription.

- Painful muscle spasms
- Difficulty with movement and balance
- Sleep disturbance from spasms
When to seek care urgently
- You have a confirmed diagnosis of MS or spinal cord injury
- Standard antispastic medications are not enough
