Originally developed for type 2 diabetes, several are now licensed or commonly used for chronic weight management — including semaglutide (Ozempic / Wegovy), tirzepatide (Mounjaro, dual GIP/GLP-1) and liraglutide (Saxenda).
It depends on your BMI, medical history, tolerance, budget and what is currently available in Portuguese pharmacies. Mounjaro (tirzepatide) tends to show the largest average weight loss; Wegovy is licensed specifically for weight management; Ozempic is widely used off-label; Saxenda is a once-daily option. The doctor will discuss the trade-offs with you during the consultation.
